SUMMARY
Annual. Culms at first tufted and later assending to erect or decumbent, 80–115 cm high. Sheaths setose, 5–7 cm long. Ligules membranous, truncate, 2–2.5 mm long. Blades linear, 12–25 by 8–12 mm, base rounded, apex acute, margin serrate, adaxial surface scaberulous with sparse setae at base, abaxial surface scaberulous. Inflorescences composed of racemes; main axis 0(–2) cm long. Racemes 4–7, digitate or subdigitate, longest raceme 13–16 cm long. Rachis triquetrous and winged, zigzag, 0.8–1 mm wide, margin serrate. Pedicels triquetrous, serrate; abcission truncate. Spikelets binate, heteromorphous, lanceolate, 3–3.2 by 0.7–0.9 mm, apex acute, pedicelled one pubescent. Lower glume reduced to triangular scale, ca. 0.3 mm long. Upper glume lanceolate, 2.8–3 mm long, chartaceous, 3-nerved, pubescent, hairs overtopping. Lower floret neuter; lemma lanceolate, 3–3.2 mm long, apex acute, chartaceous, pubescent with glabrous interspaces on either sides of midnerve but glabrous to slightly pubescent on margins in sessile spikelet, 7-nerved; palea reduced to oblong scale, truncate, ca. 2 mm long. Upper floret hermaphrodite, yellowish to brownish when mature; lemma lanceolate, 2.5–2.8 mm long, apex acute, chartaceous; palea similar to the upper lemma, 2.4–2.6 mm long. Lodicules truncate, 0.2–0.3 mm long. Anthers 1–1.2 mm long. Caryopsis oblong, ca. 2 mm long, brownish.
